  • As Chuck and I arrived Sunday about 1:30 PM, I was immediatly drawn to the scene on the North Beach of the advancing weather EVENT. Members here chat waiting for their family members to return in the kayaks.
  • Family members arriving at beach. Sky is very ominous looking!
  • Launch oporators, Jack and Addison help get everything ashore.
  • They urged everyone to seek shelter shortly in the "Tent" or in the "Cottage"
  • there was still a strong feeling that this was just part of the fun Sprite Script... even for me.... who continued to snap cute portraits.
  • Because just the night before this was the tranquil cottage scene....A Beautiful, Quiet Happy Hour in/out of Cottage ... 6/29/19 ...
  • I was in the cottage with other families. Chuck was in the tent with friends. Very quickly it became a "White Out" outside with high wind and water.... then a huge THUD that rocked the cottage.
  • OMG... huge trees had come crashing down just missing the East end of the cottage. BUT the generator kept the lights on ... :0000.
  • Looking left out the door, you could see the MASS of Trees uprooted that had fallen just missing us.
  • There wasn't just one tree.... but a MASS of 3 BIG trees and one smaller one.
  • This whole event had missed the main cottage structure by inches
  • Outside the cottage the damage was apparant... broken limbs and half trees twisted and dangled ... but thank goodness we were all OK
  • The path to the beach part of the island was totally blocked
  • Spencer gives me a wave as the generator keeps running even though its shed took a roof hit.
  • Looking right out the doorway the treed mass was staggering, and we had heard part of it crash onto the ping pong porch roof
  • The only way around the fallen trees is through the ivy bed.
  • From this angle you can see how massive the trees are.... we were very fortunate to have been missed
  • People start to emerge from the tent... shaken but ALL OK... Chuck gave witness to the sides flapping open but they were spared from tree fall. See hobie cat blown across from north beach.
  • Tom makes his way through the ivy and gives me a wave.
  • As I look at the large part of the tree that landed on the cottage porch, the sky begins to break to blue
